Registered Nurse, Gastroenterology (GI) - Full-Time, Days
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Medical Group, as a Registered Nurse at our Flossmoor clinic. Here, you will work alongside our Gastroenterology (GI) team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area.
UChicago Medicine Flossmoor offers specialty and primary care for the whole family, including children, teens, adults, and senior citizens who need annual wellness exams, school physicals, immunizations, injury treatment, or help managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient consent for care and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Obtain and document health history, chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors; assess disease condition.
- Provide patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
- Delegate tasks as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act.
- Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems or concerns.
- Educate patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Document patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms, automated systems, and documentation practices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Track quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Post tests and examination results.
- Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be an actively licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.
- Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Prior clinic experience.
Schedule
- Full-Time (1.0 FTE).
- Shift: Days - 8 am to 5 pm.
- Work Location: Onsite - Flossmoor.
