About the role

The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients. Responsibilities

  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient preferences, and cultural beliefs and values to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Collaborates with patients, their family/designated care partners to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them in ways that are useful, understandable, and affirming.
  • Minimizes risk of harm by following established nursing practices and protocols, and by maintaining individual performance.
  • Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision making.
  • Maintains data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and uses improvement methods to design and test changes to continuously improve patient care.
  • Fosters open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making within nursing and inter-professional teams to achieve quality patient care.
  • Creates an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to learning and seeks opportunities for professional growth, acting as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participates in hospital- and practice setting-based committees, including safety and quality improvement.

Requirements

A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required. Knowledge of patient-and family-centered care, cultural awareness, effective communication, and patient assessment and care are essential. The ability to administer medications and discharge planning is also required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of BSN within 3 years of hire is preferred.
  • Previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting is preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, effective communication, patient assessment and care, medication administration, discharge planning, and health information documentation are key skills.
