About the role

Oceans Behavioral Hospital is dedicated to providing trusted behavioral health support. We specialize in helping individuals with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, behavioral changes related to dementia, medication management, and substance abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Administers medications safely and educates patients on their prescribed medications.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and ensures patient safety during medical/psychiatric crises.
  • Communicates with staff and patients to ensure continuity of care and addresses patient needs.
  • Floats among various clinical services and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
  • One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments and assess potential patient escalations.
  • Effective communication skills, including oral and written, to interact with patients, staff, and external customers.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Ability to adapt to a high-stress environment and manage unpredictable patient behavior.
  • Self-confidence and the ability to lead and direct others.
  • Successfully completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Qualifications / Skills Requirements

  • Adaptable to a high-stress environment and assess potential for patient escalation.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to consistently achieve positive results with internal and external customers.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to serve culturally diverse and special needs populations such as chronically mentally ill, geriatric, CD, and basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
  • Critical thinking abilities and application of them for continuous improvement of patient care.
  • Self-confidence and conceptual thinking for leading and directing others.
  • Successfully completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Pay

Schedule

Rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-paced and stressful environment subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
