The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States, located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County. We serve children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and seniors, treating disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, mental illness, and addictive disease disorders including alcoholism, drug addiction, and substance abuse.
About the Role
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health and the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The Registered Nurse prescribes, coordinates, and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. They are accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. The Registered Nurse may also assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care consistent with Lakeside’s philosophy and ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care.
- Prescribe, coordinate, and delegate nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care.
- Account for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis.
- Promote and enhance professional nursing practice on the unit.
- Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.
- Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse.
- Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management, and CPR training.
