Registered Nurse - Full Time, 9am-5pm - AMG Cardiology - Morristown

Full Time, Monday - Friday position in our Morristown office.

About the role

Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Manages patient teaching, communication, triage, and documentation in Epic. Ensures patient safety, privacy, and timely response to clinical needs. Collaborates with the care team, supports quality improvement, promotes evidence-based practice, and upholds PRIDE values and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process effectively (assessing the patient and situation, identifying the problem, planning, implementing, and evaluating care through the health care continuum).
• Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills.
• Coordinates and completes patient assessment and re-assessment to positively impact quality outcomes.
• Assesses barriers to learning and functional status of patient.
• Coordinates, evaluates, and completes patient/family teaching.
• Consistently responds to patients/families in a courteous, positive, and timely manner.
• Respects the patients' right to privacy and dignity, and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Fosters a positive and pleasant environment, promoting shared PRIDE values.
• Promotes better patient outcomes by reviewing open gaps of care and coordinating closure of care gaps.
• Interacts directly with patients and team members, documents in Epic as appropriate.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Manages in-basket, assists with pharmacy contact, medication ordering, and renewal.
• Reviews and appropriately disseminates labs based on acuity.
• Reviews and appropriately responds to patient messages in collaboration with clinician(s).
• Recognizes emergency situations and acts appropriately.
• Clarifies physician orders as indicated.
• Maintains a safe environment for team members and patients/visitors: physical, psychological, and environmental.
• Utilizes HRO safety principles and reports all injuries (patient or staff) using event reporting system.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medication and vaccine administration according to policy, carries out physician orders accurately and timely.
• Monitors effects of medications and reports adverse effects in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures, including emergency equipment and procedures.
• Identifies and reports all risk management issues in a timely manner.
• Responsible for phone management of patients, triaging calls utilizing critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Provides comprehensive medical record documentation, maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Participates in and/or organizes regular practice huddles, communicates effectively with team members and physicians.
• Collaborates with team members to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
• Functions as a resource/mentor and provides support to team members.
• Utilizes standard precautions including appropriate isolation techniques.
• Follows the Ambulatory Health Care National Patient Safety Goals.
• Collaborates with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence-based care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines, documents patient’s response to ordered treatment protocol.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the clinician immediately.
• Collects and completes all required documentation, verifies accuracy of order entry and transcription.
• Maintains competency in use of all needed information systems.
• Pursues and participates in formal and independent learning activities to enhance knowledge and clinical competency.
• Monitors quality dashboards for assigned clinicians/practice.
• Performs other duties per operational needs of the assigned clinical practice area within the scope of RN license.
• Supports the overall strategic goals of the clinical practice care area, AMG, the AHS hospital sites, Atlantic Visiting Nurse, and the system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• RN license, valid in the State of N.J.
• American Heart Association- Basic Life Support (BLS) credential
• At least 2 years’ clinical practice, ambulatory practice - highly preferred
• Cardiology experience
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred)
