Physicians Premier is a full-service, state-licensed, 24/7 freestanding emergency room offering the same services as traditional emergency rooms with reduced wait times and a comfortable setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care by evaluating medical complaints or symptoms and reporting to physicians.
- Assists physicians during exams, procedures, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
- Performs IV initiation/infusion/therapy, blood draws, cardiac monitoring, pulse oximetry, applies oxygen, administers nebulized treatments, cleans and bandages wounds, applies splints, and provides basic bedside care as ordered by physicians.
- Recognizes and effectively treats life-threatening conditions.
- Performs head-to-toe assessments and reassessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Uses triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care; accurately assigns triage categories.
- Assists physicians with procedures such as laceration repair, moderate sedation, incision and drainage, cardiac arrest, intubation, chest tube insertion, foreign body removal, live birth or spontaneous aborted fetus and tissue.
- Records time of death and birth; assists Administrator in reporting death in the emergency room as needed.
- Prepares and administers medications ordered by physicians; records administration and relevant data in patient medical records.
- Interacts professionally with patients and families; involves them in the formation of the plan of care.
- Reviews discharge instructions with patients, takes vital signs prior to discharge, and records results in medical records.
- Maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental, and infection prevention and control standards.
- Completes all necessary nursing documentation in accordance with policy and emergency room standards.
- Ensures adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Records patient medical care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner; submits to Front Desk Representative for entry into patient medical records.
- Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Nurse Director.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Two (2) years of registered nurse and emergency room nursing experience.
- Current Texas RN license (or a multistate compact RN with privilege to practice in Texas).
- CPR/BLS Certification required.
- ACLS Certification required.
- PALS Certification required.
- TNCC Certification required.
- NIHSS Certification required.
