About the Role

The RN First Assistant (RNFA) collaborates with surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room, providing direct patient care and supporting perioperative team efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons intraoperatively, performing focused assessments and analyzing data to guide care.
  • Contribute to the efficiency and safety of the perioperative environment, considering factors like effectiveness and cost.
  • Monitor patient responses, modify care plans, administer medications, and develop individualized perioperative plans.
  • Participate in professional development, uphold ethical practices, and advocate for patient safety.
  • Support patient and family education, integrating research and current standards into practice, and provide leadership within the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • 2-5 years of nursing experience.
  • RN licensure required; preferred certifications include Certified First Assistant, CNOR, or Certified RN First Assist.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
