About the Role
The RN First Assistant (RNFA) collaborates with surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room, providing direct patient care and supporting perioperative team efforts.
Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons intraoperatively, performing focused assessments and analyzing data to guide care.
- Contribute to the efficiency and safety of the perioperative environment, considering factors like effectiveness and cost.
- Monitor patient responses, modify care plans, administer medications, and develop individualized perioperative plans.
- Participate in professional development, uphold ethical practices, and advocate for patient safety.
- Support patient and family education, integrating research and current standards into practice, and provide leadership within the team.
Requirements
- Minimum education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- 2-5 years of nursing experience.
- RN licensure required; preferred certifications include Certified First Assistant, CNOR, or Certified RN First Assist.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
