About the role
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a highly skilled individual responsible for supporting surgeons during general and specialized surgeries. This role involves preparing patients, administering medications, performing surgical procedures, and monitoring patient vital signs.
Responsibilities
- Aid the surgeon in various surgeries
- Prepare patients for surgery
- Provide patient care and support
- Administer medications
- Control bleeding and suturing incisions
- Handle tissue and perform surgical procedures
- Position and prepare the patient on the operating table
- Maintain vigilance over patient’s vital signs and heart rate
- Study patient history and health assessments
- Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- 3+ years to 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
Qualifications
- Understanding of standard practices and procedures
- Medical expertise in handling and cutting tissue, suturing, providing hemostasis, and using medical devices
- Knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
Skills
- Ability to support multiple service lines with a minimum of 2
- Trains other RNFAs
- Coordinates cases which require RNFA taking additional CEUs

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $75.21 - $100.96 per hour
