Duties
- Assumes responsibility for setting up and passing instruments
- Labels medications
- Holds retractors
- Assists the surgeon
- Affords assistance with circulating duties as necessary
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required, BSN preferred
- Successful completion of accredited course in surgical assisting or first assisting is required
- Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure State of Missouri is required
- Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant - CRNFA to be verified through Mosaic credentialing is required
- Covered on Mosaic insurance since RNFA can close cases on their own
- Basic Life Support certification required upon hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support is preferred
- 5 years of diversified perioperative nursing experience; both scrubbing and circulating proficiency is required
