Ocean State Endoscopy Center has an opening for a Per Diem RN in a 3-room Ambulatory Endoscopy Center, providing care for patients undergoing upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. This position offers flexible hours Monday through Friday with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.
About the role
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive efficient and high-quality care. This role delivers quality care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the development of patient care delivery systems, standards, policy and procedures, and problem-solving teams.
- Demonstrates appropriate application of age-specific standards, policies, and procedures for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including medication administration and care during altered states of consciousness.
- Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into the plan of care in collaboration with the patient and family.
- Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide patient and family education on disease processes, wellness promotion, and discharge planning.
- Assesses patient and family learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, including data collection and analysis to maintain quality care and desired outcomes.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and delegates appropriate tasks to staff based on patient assessment and staff competency.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- 1–3 years of recent experience as an RN; experience in orthopedic, neurosurgical, pain management, pre-op, PACU, or endoscopy preferred.
- Current RI Nursing license.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS certification preferred.
- Good interpersonal, customer service, and basic computer skills.
- 1–2 years of Medical/Surgical experience.
