Pay
The compensation range for this role is $56.58 - $62.48 hourly. Garnet Health System provides this range to comply with New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining compensation, several factors may be considered, such as location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active New York State Nursing License in good standing
- Education: Associate, Baccalaureate (preferred), Master’s, or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing
- Certification: American Nurses Association endorsed Certifications or Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Certification Preferred (*Based on Certification specialty hours of work requirement)
- Physical Demands:
- Considerable standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
- Considerable visual demands
- New Hires must be able to perform RN essential physical functioning demands as determined by Employee Health/Pre-Screening Assessment
- During any patient transferring task, if any caregiver is required to lift more than 35 lbs of a patient's weight, the patient should be considered fully dependent and assistive devices should be used
- Ergonomic stressors include moderate to frequent heavy lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients; must participate in Safe Patient Handling initiatives

- Work schedules may include irregular hours, including nights and weekends
- Working Conditions:
- ORMC abides by the New York Department of Labor/Nursing Licensure Board recommendation on the 16-hour work limit
- OSHA Directive CPL-03-00-016: Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
- May be exposed to unpleasant patient elements (e.g., blood and other potentially infectious materials)
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including emergency and crisis scenarios
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, respirators, or coveralls, vests, lead vests, and full body suits
- May have contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards
- Patient and Staff Safety:
- Recognizes the importance of patient/staff safety precautions related to specific department and area of responsibility
- Consistently utilizes precautions and follows appropriate procedures to enhance safety in daily operations
- Identifies and reports potentially dangerous situations that could cause medical error or harm
- Immediately takes action to minimize risk of injury where appropriate
- Reports errors to supervisor and in the MIDAS RDE system via Incident report
- Participates in Root Cause Analysis and other efforts to reduce risk of medical error or harm
- Training:
- Clinical nurses are accountable for completing annual/required mandatory training within specified time frames
- All clinical nurses must maintain current BLS certification; in certain areas, additional AHA training may be required
- If transferring to a specialized area, appropriate training must be completed prior to starting the position
Experience and Training
- Department Required Experience: 9 months in Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Progressive Care, or Acute Pediatrics
- Preferred Experience: Emergency Department experience
- Recommended Certifications/Training:
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN)
- Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- ACLS (required within 6 months)
- PALS (required within 6 months)
- TNCC (required within 1 year)
- Hospital crisis intervention training course (required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter)
