About the Role
This is a full-time, 12-hour night shift position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in the Emergency Room at the Main Campus. The role involves providing patient care through the nursing process for all age groups, acting as a patient advocate, and delivering patient education. You will coordinate the patient’s plan of care with physicians and other disciplines while maintaining an atmosphere that aligns with SGMC Health’s values, goals, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Implement the nursing process to provide patient care for all age groups.
- Function as a patient advocate.
- Provide patient education.
- Coordinate the patient’s plan of care with physicians and other disciplines.

Requirements
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia.
- Current CPR (C) certification.
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications required within twelve months of hire.
- Current CPI certification required within eighteen months of hire.
- One (1) year of experience in a related specialty area preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work well individually and as a team leader or member.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new situations, manage priorities, and utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, standards, and critically evaluate patient care issues.
- Strong nursing skills in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and care for a diverse population of patients and families of all ages and cultures, including those exhibiting stressed behaviors.
Working Conditions
- Works primarily in a hospital setting.
- Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, and lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.).
- Involves pushing objects such as carts, beds, and wheelchairs.
- Regular operation of clinical and office equipment.
- Likely exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
- May rarely require assisting with patient transport to another facility.
- Uses medical, office equipment, and telecommunications devices regularly (e.g., IV pumps, fax, computer, pagers).
