Schedule

• Part-time, two 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift times may be flexible: 9am, 12pm, or 7pm start

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room, your voice influences patient care through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager and formal opportunities via hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department requirements and nursing scope and standards
• Collaborate with medical providers and care team members to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models (Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage)
• Serve as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, modeling the organization’s vision, mission, and values
• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after interventions
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers
• Document administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and resolve patient needs
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, patient status, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding
• Educate on non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes
• Prepare patients and families for future self-management
• Communicate positively and professionally with all internal and external customers
• Demonstrate appropriate judgment and problem-solving skills
• Provide age-appropriate care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the patient
• Perform delegated duties consistent with scope of practice and within the philosophy and plan of care delivery

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (BSN desirable)
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado or current RN compact license from another state for the first 180 days of employment
• Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• ENPC and NRP certifications preferred
• 1 or more years of experience as an RN in an Emergency setting
