Registered Nurse- Emergency Room

Birch Agency is seeking ER Registered Nurses to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. This is a contract position with a shift of 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM.

About the role

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides immediate and comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, trauma, and medical emergencies. The ER RN assesses patient conditions, prioritizes care based on severity, administers treatments, collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and ensures optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessments and triage according to established protocols.
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications, intravenous (IV) therapies, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed.
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during emergency procedures and interventions.
• Respond to trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and other medical emergencies.
• Operate and monitor medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness activities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing required).
• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or required based on facility needs.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
• Previous emergency department, critical care, or acute care nursing experience preferred.
