Registered Nurse Emergency FT Nights

We are seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse to handle initial patient assessments, perform laboratory work, point-of-care testing, and administrative tasks associated with patient care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients who present to the Emergency Department, prioritizing care based on the critical nature and severity of a patient’s condition.
• Assess patient condition through visual evaluation, medication reconciliation, and vital sign measurements such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, and temperature throughout the patient’s stay.
• Administer medication and assist with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physician.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and communicate timely and effectively with those involved in the patient’s welfare, care, or treatment in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Partner with other members of the patient care treatment team in the provision of procedures, interventions, discharge, or admission processes.
• Chart all patient medical history, contact information, condition, medications, and treatment, and update the electronic medical record throughout the patient’s stay in compliance with department and organization standards.
• Discharge patients from the Emergency Room post-treatment, providing discharge instructions, educating the patient and/or caregiver, answering questions, and confirming transportation.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program by date of hire.
• Minimum of two (2) years of Critical Care experience.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Emergency Department experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of Indiana upon hire.
• American Heart Association certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – upon date of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.
• Preferred certifications: CEN, TNCC, NRP.
