About the Role
The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population in the Emergency Department. They ensure quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the department’s standards of care and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice. The role demonstrates performance aligned with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, remaining flexible to changing systems while treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement patient care tailored to the Emergency Department’s patient population.
- Ensure quality and safe care delivery in alignment with departmental and Emergency Nursing Practice standards.
- Maintain flexibility in adapting to changing systems and workflows.
- Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
- Treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- ACLS certification within 1 year of hire or transfer.
- PALS certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.
- 1 year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
- Must meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- NALS/NRP certification (recommended and desired).
- TNCC certification (recommended).
- CEN certification (desired).
Working Conditions
- Manual: Significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity required.
- Occupational: Significant occupational risk.
- Physical Effort: Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
Pay
Hourly rate: $44.88–$68.11.
