About the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Boston Medical Center – South is the frontline of urgent care, providing immediate, life-saving services to over 65,000 patients annually. As the only designated Level III Trauma Center in the region, the department delivers specialized care in trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatrics, and behavioral health. Equipped with advanced technology, including EMS integration through Twiage, and staffed by a dedicated team of skilled nurses, the Emergency Department ensures rapid, high-quality treatment for a wide range of acute conditions, stabilizing patients and coordinating their continued care across the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Emergency Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data and information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Nursing degree required: diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required
• Active Massachusetts RN license and BLS certification required
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred

Pay

Compensation range: $38.86–$80.77 per hour. This range is based on minimum job qualifications and considers factors such as education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to the position.

Schedule

36 hours per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with rotating weekends.
