About the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Boston Medical Center – South is the frontline of urgent care, providing immediate, life-saving services to over 65,000 patients annually. As the only designated Level III Trauma Center in the region, the department delivers specialized care in trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatrics, and behavioral health. With advanced technology, including EMS integration through Twiage, and a dedicated team of skilled nurses, the Emergency Department ensures rapid, high-quality treatment for acute conditions while coordinating continued care across the hospital.

About the Role

As an RN in the Emergency Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. You’ll work within a supportive nursing organization, ensuring patients receive the high-quality care they deserve.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
  • Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
  • Assist the leadership team in quality improvement projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of Emergency Department experience required.
  • Nursing degree required: diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required.
  • Active Massachusetts RN license and BLS certification required. ACLS and PALS preferred.

Pay

Compensation range: $38.86–$80.77 per hour. This range is based on minimum job qualifications, with final offers considering education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to the role. Schedule

36 hours per week, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, with rotating weekends.
