Registered Nurse - ED (0.9 FTE, 11a-11p)

As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies, procedures, and guidelines of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, family-centered patient care using the Nursing Care Process.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the patient, family, significant others, and members of the health care team.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code.
• Incorporate strategic initiatives into daily work, such as Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value-Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, and Workforce Community and Connection.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Washington State RN License or other current state license required for the position.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire, unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area. BLS must be maintained until the appropriate Life Support Education is obtained.
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute.
• For nurses in specific areas (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, Clinical Research Center, Critical Care Float, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Transport Control, Radiology, Recovery Room, Surgery), PALS certification is required within 3 months of employment and must be maintained.
• Resident nurses in the specified areas must obtain PALS within 6 months of employment.
• For nurses performing moderately complex point-of-care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement must be on record with Human Resources upon hire. For personnel trained outside the U.S., records must include documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a pediatric-related healthcare setting or a specific area of nursing may be required for certain departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Pediatric healthcare nursing experience.

Pay

Compensation range: $51.60 - $91.30 per hour. This range is based on full-time employment (2,080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise.
