Registered Nurse - CSU - NOC (61791)
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join our Crisis team in the 24-hour, 16-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This facility provides intensive behavioral health crisis intervention for up to five days, supported by a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistants, Therapists, Case Managers, Milieu Counselors, and Peer Support Specialists.
About the role
The Registered Nurse will deliver exceptional clinical care for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises, with a focus on person-centered, compassionate treatment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, collaborative, and experienced in psychiatric nursing, with excellent de-escalation skills, sound clinical judgment, and an active RN license in good standing.
Responsibilities
- Support the medical and clinical functions of the medical team (completing all medical orders and communicating vital patient care information to the physician/prescriber).
- Screen potential clients for admission and adhere to admission criteria, including COVID-19 testing as needed.
- Complete nursing assessments of clients upon admission.
- Document clear and concise notes regarding patients’ condition, reaction to medication, and treatments in EMR.
- Perform nursing interventions within the scope of practice, congruent with licensing.
- Contribute to the development of the treatment planning process as it relates to medical needs and concerns.
- Provide educational support surrounding medications and self-administration.
- Provide coordination and support to program staff and clients.
- Observe, identify, and monitor the condition of the patient, including changes in symptoms, and relay information to the treatment team.
- Administer injections and medications.
- Provide medical case management and other clinical interventions, as appropriate.
- Act as liaison to outside agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care for patients.
- Provide assistance in crisis intervention, as needed.
- Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
- Provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings and training as needed.
- Maintain professional licensing as required by applicable state laws.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Active State of Colorado Registered Nursing License.
- Current BLS certification.
- Preferred: one year of relevant clinical experience.
- Preferred: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) experience.
- Ability to administer medications and injections.
- Demonstrated ability in nursing assessment, including evaluation and interpretation of medical and behavioral health information.
- Knowledge and familiarity with nursing care management concepts and psychotropic medications.
- Advanced written and oral communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, efficient time management with multitasking ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and collaborate with other internal and external teams.
- Ability to learn and operate various software programs, including Word, Excel, and web-based systems.
Schedule
This position is fully onsite/in-person and offers self-scheduling flexibility for our 24/7 care facility.
- Full-Time Nurses: Choose 3 (three) 12-hour shifts per week (0.9 FTE).
- Weekend Coverage: Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month.
- Holiday Coverage: Participate in a minimum of 2–4 holiday shifts per year.
- Shift Options: NOC shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, varying days, some weekends required.
Pay
Starting wage is based on licensure and company equity, paid bi-weekly.
- Hourly Rate: $40.22 - $48.42
- Shift Differential Pay:
- Day Weekend (Sat, Sun 7 am - 3 pm): $2.50
- Overnight Weekday (Mon-Thurs 11 pm - 7 am): $4.25/hour
- Overnight Weekend (Fri-Sun 11 pm - 7 am): $6.25/hour
- Swing Weekday (Mon-Thurs 3 pm - 11 pm): $2.75/hour
- Swing Weekend (Fri-Sun 3 pm - 11 pm): $4.25/hour
- Bilingual Language Differential Pay: $3,000 per calendar year (paid bi-weekly, prorated based on hire date and FTE) for employees who pass a language assessment.
