Registered Nurse Coordinator -Focus Care Clinic

About the role

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse in this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Focus Care Clinic, ensuring efficient delivery of care for common acute diagnoses. This position involves conducting rapid, high-quality patient assessments, implementing evidence-based protocols, and managing clinic workflow to ensure timely service. Additionally, this position serves as the operational lead, overseeing support staff, managing medical inventory, and ensuring the clinic meets all regulatory and safety standards. The RN Coordinator acts as a knowledgeable resource for both colleagues and patients, applying age-specific and culturally sensitive considerations to a diverse patient population within a fast-paced clinical setting. The nurse actively supports the mission of Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation by increasing access to care and maintaining clinical excellence within the Focus Care environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Focus Care Clinic, ensuring efficient care delivery for common acute diagnoses.
• Conduct rapid, high-quality patient assessments and implement evidence-based protocols.
• Manage clinic workflow to ensure timely service.
• Serve as operational lead, overseeing support staff and managing medical inventory.
• Ensure the clinic meets all regulatory and safety standards.
• Act as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues and patients, applying age-specific and culturally sensitive care.
• Supervise nursing and support staff of the Focus Care Clinic.
• Serve as a consultant to staff and manage staffing for the clinic.
• Utilize the nursing process in care provision, including assessment, treatment administration, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and patient/family education.
• Document actions involved in care delivery and communication with patients and colleagues.

Requirements

• Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Preferred one year leadership experience in the health care setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to pass and maintain competencies for this position.

• Proficient oral and written communication skills for remote patient assessments and clear guidance.
• Strong cognitive and technical knowledge to manage patient care across remote triage services.
• Flexibility with work schedule and ability to make independent decisions within prescribed limits.
• Knowledge of medical terminology for effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Competence in working within a patient care setting, particularly in a remote telephonic environment.
• Strong foundational nursing skills to address a wide range of medical inquiries and emergencies over the phone.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Theoretical knowledge of the nursing process, care management, and continuity of care.
• Proficiency in mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Problem-solving skills to address practical challenges in remote patient care.
• Interpretation of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $53.43.

Schedule

• Full-time, 80 hours per week.
