About the role

As a Registered Nurse at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, you’ll have all the staffing support, technology and resources you need to deliver safe, high-quality care—so you can focus on what you do best. The Monitor Technician is responsible for assuring the integrity of each monitored patient’s telemetry signal; interpreting and documenting patient heart rate, rhythm, and aberrancies; notifying nursing staff of rate/rhythm changes.

Responsibilities

The Monitor Technician may also assist with clerical functions, including order transcription, telephone communications, and other duties as assigned. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.

  • Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Adheres to dress code, arrives to work on time, and initiates work in a timely manner.
  • Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
  • Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
  • Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Prioritizes activities of self, based on demands for service.
  • Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
  • Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Practices cost-efficiency.
  • Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.
  • Demonstrates appropriate skills for assigned area/task.
  • Anticipates needed supplies/equipment prior to beginning assigned task.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate departmental equipment.

Qualifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Bachelor's Degree, or Associate Degree is required.
