Registered Nurse - Clinical Decision Unit- 36 hours - Days
About the Unit
The Clinical Decision Unit is a 16-bed unit that provides services to patients who require care beyond their initial evaluation and management in the Emergency Department and are placed in observation. It is a highly collaborative environment designed to support rapid care delivery and decision-making for discharge home or transition to an inpatient setting. The unit focuses on excellence in care delivery with a target length of stay of less than 24 hours.
The unit has cardiac monitoring capabilities and accepts a wide range of diagnoses. Frequently, overflow general medical patients from the Emergency Department are moved to the CDU to decompress the ED. The ED leadership team provides oversight for the CDU.
Employees will be cross-trained in the ED and CDU and must successfully complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Critical Care Nursing Course, and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) during orientation.
