Registered Nurse - Circulator/Main OR

Position Summary

Requirements

• Licensed by the State of Tennessee and holds a nursing diploma or degree.
• Previous surgical experience and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Responds to hospital within 30 minutes for on-call duties.
• Work experience in perioperative care and ability to work under pressure, independently, and flexibly.
• Proficient with surgical equipment across various specialties and familiar with relevant systems and tools.

Physical Environment & Effort

• Work in a surgical unit with a diverse patient age range.
• Prolonged standing, up to 12 hours.
• Able to push/pull up to 175 lbs and lift/turn patients up to 250 lbs with assistance.

Performance Standards

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop age-specific care plans, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Maintain sterile fields, perform accurate counts, and ensure safe patient positioning.
• Monitor OR environment, handle specimens and medications safely, and prepare the OR for subsequent cases.
• Use supplies judiciously, document charges accurately, and support staff development and training.
• Ensure prompt return from breaks, effective communication, and adherence to policies and procedures.
