About the role
Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital seeks a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team in the Surgery Room Department. This position is responsible for unit management, patient care, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates the organization and management of the unit.
- Contributes to the provision of safe, quality patient care.
- Prepares shift assignments and monitors unit activities.
- Schedules and reassigns staff as needed.
- Notifies supervisors of patient conditions and unusual occurrences.
- Evaluates, monitors, and documents patient and situation progress.
- Makes rounds with physicians and delegates patient care as necessary.
- Coordinates patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assists in correcting disciplinary issues and communicating with the Director of Patient Care.
- Conducts monthly meetings with shift employees and submits minutes.
- Directs staff during emergency situations and drills.
- Reviews and updates safety and emergency procedures.
- Participates in performance improvement meetings and studies.
- Provides patient education and assists in their learning process.
- Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of patient/family learning.
Requirements
- Current licensure as a professional registered nurse in the state of Georgia or North Carolina.
- Current certification in CPR.
- Two to four years of progressive nursing experience in a healthcare environment.
- Leadership skills and/or advanced education in leadership.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation nursing preferred.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a baccalaureate or associate degree or a diploma.
- Proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of nursing and management.
- Verbal and communication skills for interpersonal relations and presenting information.
- Ability to assess and analyze situations and employees.
- Physical requirements including visual acuity, manual dexterity, and mobility.

Pay
$41.10 - $61.65 per hour
