Registered Nurse Charge Nurse - Outpatient

About the role

Responsible for overseeing the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the Family Medicine Clinic. Directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards, supervises immediate personnel on the unit, and handles some managerial responsibilities. Collaborates effectively with other RN Charges to drive clinic best practices and coordinate clinic patient and process flows across the clinic. Works with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person when needed. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care. Supports Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement. Responsible for the care of all patients from birth to elderly.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) in the Family Medicine Clinic.
• Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on established nursing practice standards.
• Supervise unit personnel, including unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs in collaboration with the Director.
• Collaborate with other RN Charges to establish and maintain clinic best practices and coordinate patient and process flows.
• Work with healthcare professionals to deliver quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Serve as a resource for clinical and operational questions.
• Apply age-specific and culturally sensitive care practices.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, provide patient/family education, and collaborate with other professions.
• Review resumes and assist in acquiring agency or traveling nursing staff.

Requirements

• Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN-approved institution (BSN preferred).
• 4 years of charge experience in a Clinic or Urgent Care facility.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to pass and maintain competencies for this position.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $53.43.

Schedule

• Full-time, 80 hours per two-week pay period (40 hours per week).
• Non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
