About the Role
This part-time contractual position is the lead level of work responsible for nursing care in a unit on an assigned shift(s). The role involves providing nursing care in a medical setting, assigning, reviewing, and approving the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and non-licensed nursing or support staff. The position also includes training staff assigned to the work area for a shift.
Requirements
- Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi-state license in party states where the candidate has declared primary residence.
- Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option.
- Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland, if assigned duties requiring operation of an automobile.
- Successful completion of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintenance of current certification, if required.
Qualifications
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Substitution Notes:
- A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of general experience.
- A Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

- Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
Benefits
- Eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage (medical and prescription) if working 30+ hours per week (or on average 130 hours per month). The employee pays 25% of the premiums, while the State subsidizes the remaining 75%.
- Option to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, with the employee responsible for the full premium.
- Leave accrual at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
