Registered Nurse, CF - Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility (RJD)

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this reduction. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.

This is a limited-term position which may be extended or become permanent.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Nurse (RN), CF organizes and provides necessary nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements in a variety of correctional health care settings. The RN, CF collaborates with the health care team to ensure the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The RN, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and for promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

Requirements

• Possession of a current/valid license as a Registered Nurse in California. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination but must secure the required license before being considered eligible for appointment.
• Minimum qualifications as stated in the Class Specification.
• If meeting minimum qualifications with education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
• Candidates with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency.
• New hires must submit to a background investigation utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting.
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for new hires prior to appointment, followed by annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.

Working Conditions

• Travel may be required.
• This part-time position works 16 hours per week.

Pay

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $3,994.00 to $4,761.20. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
