Responsibilities
- Assess patients, obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures (Pre-Procedure Preparation)
- Auxiliary cardiologists during procedures such as angioplasties, stent placements, electrophysiological studies, and other cardiac interventions (Intra-Procedure Assistance)
- Maintain patient stability post-procedure, provide post-procedure instructions, and ensure patient discharge or transfer to another unit
- Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment used in the catheterization lab, such as hemodynamic monitors and other diagnostic tools
- Quickly respond to emergencies or complications during procedures, such as arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, or bleeding
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure details, and post-procedure outcomes
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiac care and catheterization techniques
Qualifications
- Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License required
- Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required
- One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
