Registered Nurse- Cardiovascular SD- 36 hours - Nights

About the Role

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care within the Cardiovascular Step-Down unit. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching for patients and families. Effectively communicates pertinent patient and family information to the health care team. Participates in identifying solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of those solutions.

The unit specializes in the care of patients with structural heart disease, interventional cardiology, cardiac and vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). As part of The Edith and Benson Ford Heart and Vascular Institute—one of the nation’s largest and most successful heart failure and transplant programs—the team delivers complex, high-acuity care to patients from across the country. Physicians on the unit have pioneered first-in-man procedures using the most advanced technologies available.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Delegate and supervise care delivery while documenting all interventions.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and health management.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and needs.
• Identify and address variances from patient care goals, implementing corrective solutions.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to develop effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.

Night shift (midnights), full-time.
