Registered Nurse, Cardiology - Full-Time, Days
About the role
Join UChicago Medicine Medical Group as a Registered Nurse at our River East clinic, working alongside our Cardiology team. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. Located in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, UChicago Medicine River East is a state-of-the-art outpatient center offering a wide range of care services, including infusion therapy, lab services, radiology (CT, MRI, mammography, X-ray, DEXA scan, and ultrasound), and more.
A Registered Nurse in the UCM Care Network provides professional nursing care for patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation following established standards, protocols, and practices. You will assist physicians and staff in coordinating patient care and serve as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians in a community-based physician practice.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient consent for care and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Obtain and document health history, chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors; assess disease condition.
- Provide patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
- Delegate tasks as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act.
- Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems.
- Educate patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Document patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms and automated systems.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Track quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Post tests and examination results.
- Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.
- Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Prior clinic experience.
Schedule
- Full-Time (1.0 FTE).
- Shift: Days - Monday through Friday.
- Option 1: 8-hour shifts (7:30 am – 4:00 pm).
- Option 2: 10-hour shifts (7:30 am – 6:00 pm).
