Registered Nurse Cardiac Care Stepdown

Stepdown Registered Nurse specializing in care for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. Provides an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor.

Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00am to 7:00pm

Responsibilities

• Deliver decisive, high-acuity patient care while closely monitoring patients and coordinating care for optimal outcomes.
• Monitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect changes or abnormalities.
• Administer medications as prescribed, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain management medications.
• Perform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical assessments, review of medical histories, and evaluation of symptoms.
• Provide education to patients and families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices.
• React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, implementing emergency procedures, administering CPR, and aiding in defibrillation.

Requirements

• Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintained current.
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
