Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Unit - RN
About the Role
The Behavioral Health Nurse provides assessments, support, and care coordination across the behavioral health care continuum for patients struggling with mental illness as well as individuals and families seeking resources or information about treatment options. This role is an integral member of the Behavioral Health Service Line, collaborating with treatment team members and providers in various inpatient and outpatient programs. The Behavioral Health Nurse works closely with community partners to ensure successful transition of care and promotes education on Behavioral Health-related topics through various forums.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and evaluates individuals' physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
- Works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health inpatient and outpatient teams to achieve desired patient care outcomes and ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients, families, or members of the community.
- Documents patient information in the electronic/paper medical record accurately and timely when required.
- Provides competent patient care by obtaining and interpreting data, making decisions based on age-specific growth and development, and adapting procedures and treatments accordingly.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
Requirements
- Current RN Licensure in the state of Iowa, or qualified multistate licensure required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Ability to be non-judgmental regarding living and health-related decisions.
Schedule
Full Time, 36 hours per week, Night 12-hour shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Every third weekend and every other holiday.
