RN-Behavioral Health Unit-Registered Nurse
Full time, 12-hour night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours weekly (every third weekend, every other holiday).
About the Role
The Behavioral Health Nurse provides assessments, support, and care coordination across the behavioral health care continuum for patients struggling with mental illness as well as individuals and families seeking resources or information about treatment options. This role is an integral member of the Behavioral Health Service Line, collaborating with treatment team members and providers in various inpatient and outpatient programs. The Behavioral Health Nurse works closely with community partners to ensure successful transition of care and promotes education on behavioral health-related topics.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and evaluates individuals' physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
- Collaborates with Behavioral Health inpatient and outpatient teams to achieve desired patient care outcomes and ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients, families, or community members.
- Documents patient information in the electronic/paper medical record accurately and in a timely manner.
- Delivers competent patient care by obtaining and interpreting data, making decisions based on age-specific growth and development, and adapting procedures and treatments accordingly.
- Communicates pertinent patient changes and conditions effectively to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or qualified multistate licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Ability to remain non-judgmental regarding living and health-related decisions.
