About the Role

As a Registered Nurse, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, you will provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will serve as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while modeling the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s).
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and anticipating patient needs proactively.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
  • Prepare patients and families for future self-management.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
  • Associate Degree.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or TNCC Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • 1 year of experience required.
  • No travel required.

About the Facility

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is a 368-bed acute care hospital within St. David’s HealthCare, offering comprehensive specialty and sub-specialty services. Key programs include:

  • A nationally accredited oncology program featuring the region’s only adult Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program.
