About the role

The Clinical Nurse at IU Health is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. This position performs duties associated with direct patient care and quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, provides and assists in the evaluation of total patient care in collaboration with providers.
  • Ensures medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Performs duties associated with symptom management and direct in clinic patient care or telehealth patient care.
  • Supports the urgent care team in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Absolutely one year of emergency room, urgent care, triage experience required.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple functions for a group of patients effectively and efficiently.
  • Awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.

Skills

Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and excellent communication skills are required.

Schedule

Three 12-hour shifts per week (Days), weekends and holidays required. Travel to other Urgent Care clinics across the state may be discussed.
