Registered Nurse, Ambulatory Oncology, Per Diem
Major Responsibilities
Performs patient assessment according to standard procedure.
Provides care utilizing the nursing process.
Initiates and implements nursing interventions as directed.
Evaluates patient progress as indicated or required.
Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
Position Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications/Educations: Required - Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification required. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies. Preferred - Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
- Experience/Skills: Required - Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing. Minimum 1 year of Oncology related experience within the last three years Chemotherapy-related experience within the last three years Experience/Skills: Required - Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing. At least 1 year experience in Medical/ Surgical nursing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless an advance certification is current (ex ACLS, PALS, NRP). In addition, unit specific certification and competencies are defined in the Unit Profile. Preferred - Minimum of 2 years’ experience with 1 year in desirable field. Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-Specific Competencies
The competencies will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing. Minimum of 2 years working in an Oncology Setting and/or completion of ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification.
