Registered Nurse- Ambulatory Care - Psychiatry

About the role

A professional practicing in a multi-faceted domain of specialty nursing focusing on health care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and entire populations. Provides care in primary and specialty care outpatient facilities, non-acute community out-patient settings, and during telehealth nursing encounters.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients in concert with other health professionals.
• Skillfully uses the nursing process to assess primary concerns, identify problems, analyze and integrate subjective and objective data, decide on a plan of action, apply the appropriate intervention, and evaluate the outcome.
• Has authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with promoting health and providing optimal care.
• Works with patients experiencing mental health crises, performs crisis assessment and safety planning, and conducts suicide-risk screenings.
• Familiarity with behavioral health treatment options outside of outpatient settings (such as TMS, Ketamine, ECT) and provides education and information to patients.
• Must be TEAMS Certified (de-escalation training).

Requirements

• 3 or more years of psychiatric nursing experience.
• Preferred certifications/skills: Certification in de-escalation training/trauma informed communication (such as MOAB, CPI, TEAMs, etc), familiarity with psychotropic medications & required monitoring/assessment, experience administering LAI medications & performing related assessment such as AIMS, Certified to complete MoCA assessments, experience with crisis assessment & safety planning for patients experiencing mental health crisis, as well as suicide-risk screening, familiarity with behavioral health treatment options that occur outside of the outpatient setting (such as TMS, Ketamine, ECT) and able to provide education & information to patients.

Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current license with the appropriate State Board of Nursing, current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 3 months from date of hire.
• Education Requirements: BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing, MN and WI RN License required.
