Registered Nurse- Adult Step Down- Full Time- Day/Night Rotator
Elliot Health System is opening a new 12-bed Adult Stepdown Unit (ASDU) with private rooms featuring ceiling lifts for safe patient movement and in-room supply carts to streamline care. The unit includes substantial telemetry monitoring and a dedicated medication room.
About the Role
The ASDU cares for acutely ill patients with moderately complex medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, and psychiatric diagnoses, requiring close nursing observation, assessment, intervention, or monitoring. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3. Nursing care follows American Nurses Association standards and a patient- and family-centered care model, guided by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses for critical and progressive care practices. Admissions are managed by the Critical Care Medicine Service or the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and promote change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
- Involve patient/family in goal setting and planning; communicate the care plan to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
- Demonstrate accountability for professional growth, unit operations, and managing rapidly changing situations.
- Utilize current evidence and national/specialty standards to guide practice; identify areas for improvement.
- Demonstrate competent clinical practice using clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience; telemetry experience with dysrhythmia management preferred.
- Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation and maintain it; ACLS preferred.
- Pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering specialty practice.
- Ability to advance basic computer skills as new systems or upgrades are implemented.
