About the Role
The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse (DPC RN) is a licensed professional able to demonstrate proficiency and mastery of core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership, and service. The DPC RN delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner, utilizing and promoting evidence-based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-family centered care using evidence-based practice standards
- Demonstrate proficiency in core nursing competencies (assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, etc.)
- Adhere to quality, safety, and service standards
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred; required for RNs hired after specific dates per facility)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- 1 year of acute Cardiac Telemetry experience with cardiac drips
- Prior PACU experience preferred
Additional certifications may be required per department standards, including but not limited to:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
RNs hired after specific dates (2/1/2012 for South, 10/1/2017 for Bethesda, 10/1/2023 for Boca, 7/1/2018 for Fishermen’s) with an Associate’s degree will have 3 years from their date of hire to complete the BSN degree. RNs must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- Minimum 1 year of acute Cardiac Telemetry experience with cardiac drips
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Additional certifications (PALS, NRP, ONS/ONCC) may be required based on department needs
