About the Role

As an ICU/CCU Registered Nurse at New Bridge Medical Center, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, treatment, and care tailored to patient growth and development, with a focus on critical care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial observation and assessment of patients to identify immediate nursing needs and document findings.
  • Systematically assess and monitor patients to detect clinical changes and plan, evaluate, and document care accordingly.
  • Address patient educational, psychosocial, and discharge planning needs through assessment, intervention, and documentation.
  • Initiate referrals to other departments, services, or outside agencies as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive treatment, patient and family teaching, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Communicate relevant patient care information during shift-to-shift reports and utilize patient care standards in clinical practice.
  • Document patient responses to treatment, progression toward goals, and complete admission/transfer/discharge summaries.
  • Clarify unclear or inappropriate physician orders and interpret clinical data to notify physicians of necessary management changes.
  • Administer intravenous medications in compliance with policies and procedures, transport patients, establish and maintain IV access, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Assess and coordinate pain management and respond appropriately in crisis situations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and apply infection control and safety principles.
  • Provide clinical supervision for Certified Nursing Assistants, Ward Clerks, and ancillary staff, and assist in orienting new personnel.
  • Maintain customer service standards, including respect, professionalism, and timely, caring responses.
  • Adhere to department policies, procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  • Assess gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary updates.
  • Monitor and collaborate on patients' nutritional status to meet metabolic needs.
  • Adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Orient patients' families to the new environment and develop rapport.
  • Relieve the Nurse Manager/Clinical Director as required.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for Quality Assurance/CQI monitors and implement follow-up actions.
  • Utilize the hospital computer system effectively and participate in Quality Improvement committees.
  • Keep up to date with current trends in critical care and participate in continuing education activities.
  • Respond to hospital codes (e.g., Code 9, Code Blue, Nurse Control) and internal/external disaster codes as assigned.
  • Participate in nursing committees and attend monthly unit meetings.
  • Conduct safety checks to ensure emergency equipment is functional and report malfunctions to Biomedical Engineering.
  • Ensure monitoring equipment and ventilator alarms are set according to standards.

Requirements

  • Current NJ licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • ICU/CCU/CCRN certification preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, and IV certifications required.
  • Successful completion of in-house Intensive Care Orientation Program.
  • At least 1 year of Critical Care or Intensive Care experience (3 years for Per-Diem roles).
  • BSN required.

Job Setting / Physical Demands

  • Work in all Intensive Care areas.
  • Frequently prolonged standing/walking.
  • Lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients.
  • Wear protective clothing, including face shields, gloves, and impermeable gowns.

Pay

Hourly rate: $48.82–$69.09.

  • Weekend differential: $2.25 per hour.
  • Evening differential: 10%.
  • Night differential: 12%.
  • Charge pay: $2.25 per hour.
  • Critical Care Differential: $4.00 per hour for all hours worked in ER, OR, PACU, ICU, CCU, and ITCU after the first five days of hire (for one year). An additional $4.00 per hour (total $8.00) if a critical care specialty certification is obtained and maintained within this period.
