About the Role
Provides clinical leadership in an acute inpatient setting, ensuring patient-centered care through evidence-based nursing practices. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, while incorporating safety, cost-efficiency, and quality improvement measures. Ensures compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards (TJC, CMS, DPH), and the Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, identifies priorities, and develops individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Delivers direct patient care within scope, delegates tasks appropriately, and monitors care quality and safety.
- Evaluates patient responses, revises care plans, and documents progress; promotes patient safety and a safe environment.
- Facilitates patient education, discharge planning, and continuity of care, respecting cultural and spiritual needs.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance evaluations to enhance care outcomes.
- Maintains professional licensure, completes mandatory training, and reflects on practice for continuous improvement.
- Serves as a patient advocate and care coordinator, collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year RN experience or equivalent through residency programs or LPN experience.
- Current RN license recognized by NCSBN Compact or applicable state.
- Strong knowledge of safety, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.
- Ability to assess, plan, communicate, and collaborate effectively.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
This is a non-management role reporting to a supervisor or manager, focused on delivering high-quality nursing care and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
