Acute Care (2 Ross) is an 18-bed acute care unit at Guthrie Lourdes in Binghamton, NY. Our patient population includes surgical cases such as women’s health, podiatry and other routine procedures as well as a mix of general medical diagnoses. Requirements

• Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
• BSN in Nursing preferred; previously agreed timelines for obtaining a BSN remain in effect
• Specialty certification preferred
• BLS certification
• ACLS and PALS are unit dependent

Qualifications

• At least one year of RN experience, or transitioned to the position from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program
• Maintain BLS certification; ACLS is unit dependent
• Meet individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment

Essential Functions

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; develop, update, and coordinate the plan of care to achieve patient goals and optimize outcomes and transitions across the continuum
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate
• Perform and maintain the currency of essential competencies as required by the specific area of hire and population served
• Advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs
• Foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team
• Account for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence and best practice into nursing care
• Engage in ongoing professional development; practice at the top of license within legal parameters
• Demonstrate leadership as a change agent using advocacy, influence, and innovation
• Delegate, coordinate care, and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team
• Participate in the planning and presentation of educational programs

Other Duties

• Proficiency in information technology such as electronic health records, communication systems, computers, and equipment necessary to perform essential functions
• Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff
• Use independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude
• Effectively manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations

Pay

$40.00 – $54.12 per hour plus differentials.
