About the role

Responsible for assessing physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within the assigned unit area and planning nursing care to meet those needs. Responsible for ensuring nursing care plans are carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to standards of nursing practice at McLaren Flint, using a systematic approach to nursing care.
• Assesses and documents patient’s status on admission and continuously thereafter, including in procedural areas.
• Develops written plan of care, including long- and short-range goals and nursing actions.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for the following units: 2 Central, 4 Central, CCU, ICU, PCU, ER, and 12 South.

Qualifications by Specialty Unit

Cardiovascular Services / CVCU

• Required: Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit, step-down unit (e.g., 12T, 9T, 4C), PACU, cardiac cath lab, or emergency department. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred: Previous experience pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths. Knowledge of Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps.

Cath Lab

• Required: Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit (2C, CCU, ICU), step-down units (4C, 9T, 12T), Emergency Department, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab, or Neuro Interventional Procedures Lab. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred: Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab. CCRN certification.

Fenton ER

• Required: Either (within the past 5 years):
  • Two years of ED experience, or
  • One year of ED experience with one year of critical care experience.
  ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Endo / Operating Room / PACU / PAT

• Required: Two years of clinical acute care experience. BLS certification.

Medical Imaging / Radiology

• Required: Minimum of two years of experience in a critical care unit (2C, ICU, CCU, SCU), step-down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, or neuro interventional procedures lab. Competent in starting and maintaining IVs. Twelve months of recent experience (within the last three years) administering and monitoring moderate sedation. Competent to interpret 12-lead EKG. ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Preferred: Previous experience working in MRI and Radiology settings.

Nursing Resource

• Required: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (includes PACU, CVCU; excludes 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR). Minimum of 6 months of proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year.

Partial Hospitalization

• Required: ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.

LDRP

• Required: NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer. Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire.
