About the role

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care on a mixed-acuity Medical/Surgical unit. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and families. Effectively communicates pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team. Participates in identifying solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of those solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Delegate, supervise, and document care and patient/family teaching.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Identify and resolve variances from patient care goals.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 3 years of hire.
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years of hire.
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Professional certifications supporting a culture of nursing excellence.
