About the role
The Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team in providing for the safety, recovery and comfort of patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, developing the plan of care and the education plan; implementation of interventions, evaluation of interventions and revision of plan as needed); and provides education and advocacy. Practices in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV-GL/NIAHO standards, etc.
Responsibilities
- Supports department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services;
- Leads collaboration with co-workers and other departments;
- Manages efficient services with meaningful and valuable outcomes;
- Decides patient care within the scope of practice;
- Decides patient acuity based on patient classification decision-making method;
- Precepts and competency validates new hires and new procedures;
- Teaches nursing students;
- Delegates tasks to other RNs, LVNs, CNAs;
- Coordinates assigned team;
- Communicates expectations to assigned staff (interventions; report back; etc.);
- Identifies and implements improvement opportunities; communicates through chain of command; addresses unusual events;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from Registered Nurse Program;
- BSN desired (if not upon hire, will obtain within 5 years preferred);
- 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred;
- If applicable - experience in treating ortho and stroke patient population preferred.
Qualifications
- Required License/Certification: California Registered Nurse License;
- Certification in clinical specialty or management desired;
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified;
- All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated.
