Day Kimball Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department night shift (7:00pm - 7:00am), 36 hours per week, in Putnam, CT. Eligible external candidates may receive up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus.

About the Role

As the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through use of the nursing process. Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Assess the health status of patients and families through comprehensive health history and physical examination.
  • Initiate therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations; interpret findings and adjust the plan of care accordingly.
  • Educate and counsel patients on health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses.
  • Document findings and plan of care in the patient’s medical record.
  • Consult with physicians per established Day Kimball Hospital policy.
  • Intervene to provide a safe environment and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent (must obtain within three months of employment if not currently certified).
  • Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

  • Ability to recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organization, problem-solving, and independent decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
  • Compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.
  • Solid foundation in evaluating and reformulating plans of care as necessary.

Schedule
