Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care.
• Adhere to the New York State Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics, and Garnet Health’s Nursing Strategic Plan.
• Participate in initiatives to improve healthcare systems and patient/staff safety.
• Complete annual mandatory training, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, MERT, and CRRT as required.
• Engage in root cause analysis and other efforts to reduce medical errors and enhance safety.
• Utilize assistive devices for patient handling when lifting more than 35 lbs.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
• Report errors or potentially dangerous situations to supervisors and document in the MIDAS RDE system.

Requirements

• Active New York State Nursing License in good standing.
• Baccalaureate (preferred), Master’s, or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing.
• American Nurses Association endorsed Certifications or Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Certification Preferred (*Based on Certification specialty hours of work requirement).
• 1-year Critical Care, SDU, ED experience or successful completion of the GHMC ICU Fellowship program.
• For GHMC ICU Fellowship Program eligibility: 18 months Medical-Surgical OR 1 year Medical-Telemetry/Progressive Care experience.
• BLS certification (must be kept current).
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC, MERT, and CRRT training as required (timelines specified in posting).
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
• Considerable visual demands and ability to lift/position patients using assistive devices.
• Ability to work under pressure, organize, synthesize information, prioritize tasks, and multi-task.
• Sensitivity to customer needs and expectations in a high-interruption environment.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• 12-hour shifts, variable as needed (including weekends and holidays).
• Per Diem employees must work a minimum of one day per month, including one weekend day every other schedule, and one major and one minor holiday per year (if requested).
• Adherence to New York Department of Labor/Nursing Licensure Board’s 16-hour work limit.
• Exposure to blood, infectious materials, chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, or mechanical hazards.
• Use of PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, respirators, or full-body suits.
• Potential contact with unpleasant patient elements in varying and unpredictable situations.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $59.50. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Compensation is determined based on factors such as location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
