About the role

This position involves assessing and evaluating patients, modifying treatment plans, and assisting with various medical procedures under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans, documenting nursing care and reporting symptoms and vital signs.
  • Modifies patient treatment plans based on patients' responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Reviews and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions, consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering patient age and culture.
  • Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support and communicating the plan of care to patients and families.
  • Performs appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice.
  • Keeps accurate records of medications and treatments, adhering to regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicates the plan of care in a timely manner to patients and families, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with discharge planning and performs appropriate patient tests and treatments.
  • Safely operates medical equipment and serves as a preceptor for new staff.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding University assets.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Florida Registered Nurse license.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (e.g., sanitation, decontamination).
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
