Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric (Kingsboro ATC)
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric or Registered Nurse 2 Psychiatric, the incumbent will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team performing a variety of nursing and client care activities designed to ensure that clients receive all necessary care in accordance with the nursing care plan, established protocols, and standards of health care.
Responsibilities
- Performs triage and initial assessments of patients.
- Performs venipuncture and prepares specimens for laboratory.
- Coordinates with other staff members to integrate care with the treatment team.
- Evaluates treatment plans and discusses forms of improvement with team leader.
- Transcribes Physician and Nurse Practitioner orders, administers medications, and documents in the patient record as per facility policy and procedure.
- Ensures narcotic control through inventory at beginning and end of shift.
- Ensures health and safety of facility and patients by periodic unit check and reports problems in a timely manner to Administrator on duty.
- Participates in crisis interventions as needed.
- Participates in and contributes to assigned committee and reports as necessary to Nursing Administrator.
- Assists with inspection by governing agencies.
- Develops and implements educational health programs for patients.
- Leads Nursing Educational Groups.
- Performs other nursing care duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Permanent status as a Registered Nurse 1 (Psychiatric) and interested in reassignment; OR for permanent, non-competitive appointment under the Civil Service Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELPS) Program, possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State.
- Eligibility and maintenance of full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification, and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in termination of employment.
- This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
- Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position. Chosen candidate(s) will be added to the mandatory overtime roster, utilized on a rotating basis during times of emergency after all other staffing options have been exhausted.
Pay
Salary range: $76,147 - $85,138 plus the following additional pay:
- Geographic Pay: $35,000
- Location Pay: $4,000
The salary range reflects the full range for this graded position, including annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) plus any applicable Location Pay, Geographic Pay, or Shift Pay differentials.
